Laura Tweedy
Laura is a graduate student at Merrimack College, where she is completing her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She previously earned a master's degree in Criminal Justice from Bridgewater State University. Laura has extensive experience working with individuals across all age groups, including roles in child protection and elderly care. Her profound understanding of generational trauma and its effects has guided her towards a career in counseling.
Laura is skilled in supporting individuals dealing with substance abuse and domestic violence. She is passionate about exploring the connection between past experiences and present challenges, working collaboratively with clients to identify what is important to them and the steps they wish to take on their journey toward healing and growth. Recognizing that each person is unique, she aims to create a therapeutic environment characterized by acceptance, empathy, and genuine connection. Laura is particularly drawn to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoanalytic therapies, and trauma-informed practices.
In addition to her studies and counseling work, Laura is a part-time group fitness instructor, which enhances her appreciation for the mind-body connection and the positive impact of movement and exercise on mental health. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, spending time outdoors, and relaxing at home with her cat, Callie.
