Madalena Nunes-Barbosa, MSW, LICSW
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting individuals across the lifespan, including children, young adults, and older adults. I am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole, and semi-fluent in Spanish. I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma-related concerns, and stress, and I am committed to providing care that is culturally responsive and inclusive.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process rooted in trust, respect, and compassion. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, strengthening insight, and working toward meaningful and lasting change.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, strength-based, and evidence-informed. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused interventions, and solution-focused strategies to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. I value collaboration and work closely with clients to identify concerns, clarify treatment goals, and develop individualized plans that support growth, resilience, and emotional well-being.
I am deeply committed to creating an inviting, nonjudgmental, and supportive therapeutic environment. I honor each client’s lived experience and bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work, allowing me to effectively serve individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Therapy is a space for healing, self-discovery, and empowerment, and I strive to walk alongside clients with care and intention throughout their journey.
